Stage Director and Scenographer
Allex Aguilera began his professional career at a very young age. To discover his roots, we go back to the times when he lived in Switzerland. Back in 1993, at the Grand Théâtre, he first came into contact with the arts as a stage manager and later as an assistant stage director. His natural attraction to classical music, and especially to voices, led him to study opera singing at the music conservatory, located a few steps from the Grand Théâtre.
His relationship with water goes beyond swimming. What he is passionate about is contact with water, regardless of the environment in which it is found. He fondly remembers the beaches of Brazil, specifically Ilha Grande in Rio de Janeiro. This great little island has an advantage over the others: all its beaches remain intact. Access is only by boat. There is a small town where you can only cycle. It is a paradise a few kilometers from the Carioca city. One of his favorite beaches on this island is Lopes Mendes, which stands out for its white sand and clear waters.
For a sunbath, he recommends Ilha Grande again, especially the beaches of Lopes Mendes and Laguna Azul.
Such is his passion for this island that he points it out as his personal corner. His reasons are clear: it is not a tourist destination. Tourists generally reach Angra dos Reis and overlook this beautiful place. To stroll through the small town, his chosen outfit would consist of a t-shirt and shorts. On his visits to the beach, he is usually accompanied by his backpack with some books, opera scores, an iPad, and mineral water. His sunscreen and sun protection are indispensable.
The Mïau Originals collection inspires him with many feelings, but especially peace, rest, and relaxation. Like a symphony or a Mozart sonata. He also considers it a versatile collection for everyone, in his own words, “good taste is for everyone.” If he had to give someone one of our garments, it would be himself, and he would choose shorts and a swimsuit.
Regarding artistic matters and the references that inspire him, he is very clear: Tom Ford, Dries van Noten, Shigeru Ban, Zaha Hadid, Mozart, and Richard Strauss. A cinematic aquatic moment that particularly inspires him would be “La piscine,” a French film by Jacques Deray with Alain Delon, Romy Schneider, and Jane Birkin.
When we ask him which city in the world he would like to escape to, he responds without hesitation: Cíes, for its Rodas Beach. Finally, he makes it clear that he would recommend Mïau to all his friends, especially the most avid travelers.
